Most of you know that I founded and edited a poetry site called And Other Poems for six years and retired the site at the end of 2018. One of my final jobs as editor was to nominate three poems for the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem and I’m pleased to say that Sarah Hymas’ poem ‘Whale-boned Corset and Other Relics‘ has been Highly Commended by the Forward judges and is published in this year’s anthology of short-listed poems. You can read all the poems nominated by And Other Poems here.
Congratulations to Sarah Hymas and to all of the poets involved in this year’s competition.
I no longer edit And Other Poems but my six year project containing the work of hundreds of poets is still available for all to read – there is some fantastic work there.
I also recommend you read Martyn Crucefix’s blog where he is reviewing all of the work shortlisted for this year’s Best First Collection in the Forward Prizes.
Well done for nominating Sarah’s poem. I saw her read a few years ago (Wakefield I think, but it could have been Leeds). Either way, I love her work. Editing is a real skill, and time-consuming too. ‘And Other Poems’ is a fantastic resource. Thank you.
