February Update

Pieces of magazine paper variously tied in loose knots and pasted onto plain paper as if clothing. A simple face hand drawn on the page and a pair of legs beneath.

I ran another visual poetry workshop for Trowbridge Museum in February, I wrote something about the first one here, and there is one more scheduled for Saturday, 18th March, 10.30am - 12.30pm. The starting point of each workshop has been the work of poet George Crabbe, particularly his herbarium of dried plants and flowers, and… Continue reading February Update

January Update

paper variously coloured with swirling patterns laid out on a small round dining table

I've been having a lovely time making visual poems for my workshops at Trowbridge Museum which I wrote about here. This work lead me to think about ways to extend my visual poetry practice, greatly helped by an article by Geof Huth at the Poetry Foundation, and, in particular, the following quotes which gave me… Continue reading January Update

Out and About Again

The image is of a country road surrounded by greenery

Although not back to how it was before the pandemic, I am increasingly venturing out in the world to attend poetry events and readings, as well as still going to online things. What has changed since my last blog in January? Well, the world has changed dramatically, hasn't it, but, here in my small corner of west Wiltshire, the news is less distressing. Since I last wrote here, there have been two in-person Trowbridge Stanza meetings, after a break of two years. Our monthly gatherings, on first… Continue reading Towards Spring

August Postcards

Our household of four is gathering its belongings together to make new plans in the Covid19 world. We can't really say post-covid yet, can we, since the virus is still circulating? I am writing less poetry and more prose, writing and typing, one word at at a time. As I loop ink around printed out… Continue reading August Postcards

A quick round up of recent events

A busy November has given way to a quiet December but my growing collection of new poems is demanding attention so the blog is being neglected.  I've written about 20 new poems that I'm reasonably pleased with. Many more will likely never see in the New Year.  My editing knives have been sharpened. November began… Continue reading A quick round up of recent events
