Featured at Poetry Wales and Proletarian Poetry

Peter Raynard at Proletarian Poetry has written about my poem Working Class Poem, first published in Under the Radar magazine.  I wrote the poem when I was thinking about my own background and about the ways that working class people are represented in the mainstream media and in popular culture in the UK.  Mostly, I feel that there is a tendency to make assumptions about what ‘working class’ means and, often, a failure to acknowledge that working class people are various and not easily labelled.  I’m still exploring these ideas and this is one of the first poems I wrote as part of this process.  Thanks to Peter for picking up the poem which you can read, along with his commentary, here.

I’m also featured at Poetry Wales this month in their series How I Write a Poem.  You can read what I had to say here.  Thanks to everyone at Poetry Wales.
