New Poetry Workshops in Bradford on Avon

I’m thrilled to be teaching some new poetry workshops at The Make Space, a dedicated learning and making space in Bradford on Avon, near the Tithe Barn. The Make Space is part of and next to the wonderful artisan shop Stone, Paper, Scissors.

My first workshop runs across two weeks, on Tuesday mornings 10.30am – 12.30pm on 5 and 12 September. In week one, I’ll introduce you to a broad selection of poetry and lead you through a series of writing exercises and prompts to inspire you to fill your notebook with the beginnings of new poems. We’ll read something old, something new, something in translation, something that won a big prize, something that went viral on the internet, something that divides opinion, and more. In week two, you are invited to bring a poem you’ve written to the group for feedback from your peers and from me. There will be a maximum of eight participants (in both sessions) so that everyone’s work will receive attention. I’m an experienced workshop facilitator and will ensure that the learning atmosphere is always encouraging and helpful. If you’re interested in this two-week workshop, there are more details here.

Further ahead, I’m planning more workshops at The Make Space, including Ecopoetry and Nature Poetry; Poetry after Art; Prize Winning Poetry (we’ll look at poems that have won or were nominated for big prizes and mine them for inspiration), and more. Most workshops will be on Tuesdays, either morning or afternoon, and there is the possibility that I will also offer evening workshops if there’s enough interest.

There’s more news about my workshops in my newsletter which also includes news about Trowbridge Stanza, the poetry group I organise at Drawing Projects UK in Trowbridge. You can also email me josephinecorcoran13 at gmail dot com to let me know you’re interested and to ask any questions.
