Writing the Earth

I’m running an in-person, small group workshop on 14 November at The Make Space in Bradford-on-Avon. This workshop is for anyone interested in finding out more about and reading nature and eco poetry, and a chance to write and share your own poems that engage with the natural world.

In a group of no more than eight people, we’ll read and talk about a selection of mostly contemporary poetry, considering the differences between eco and nature writing, and exploring the different techniques and poetic forms being used. Some of the topics and poems under discussion will include ecojustice, the climate emergency, poetry as activism, and citizen science. Then, responding to what we’ve read, and following a series of writing exercises and prompts, you will write their own first drafts of poems and share them with the group.

All abilities welcome. Work to your own level. Reading materials provided. Please bring your own notepad and pen.

Date of workshop – Tuesday, 14 November 10.30am – 1pm at The Make Space, (next to Stone, Paper, Scissors), Tithebarn Workshops, 4 Pound Lane, Bradford-on-Avon, BA15 1LF. There will be a maximum of eight participants in this workshop. Price £30.
